At the End of the Day

It's early morning, I rise to a brand-new day. All my cares and troubles, They seem so far away. Yet as the curtain rises, Sleep falls from my eyes I look back upon my life, In black and white and gray As the sun sets, and the moon begins to rise. I look to the west and I close my eyes. Yet when all is said and done, And the light begins to fade. We live for hope at the end of the day. My heart, it cries out, For a world that has turned cold. People pass each other by, Their stories left untold. The times are changing, Has hope begun to fade? We've lived so long without a care, The piper must be paid. As the sun sets, and the moon begins to rise. I look to the west and I close my eyes. Yet when all is said and done, And the light begins to fade. We live for hope at the end of the day. When the tears fill my eyes and I'm lying-in bed I hear a whisper in my head There's hope for the ones who stand It's not over, there's a chance The sun's gonna rise and we'll fight one more day The clock winds down, and the story's at an end. The lights they dim, the music starts to play The curtain closes, and there's nothing left to say. We're all alone at the end of the day.
