Walking around in a dream But it ain't my dream Moving pictures, changing scenes Giving in to make believe Fickle lies and marble eyes People set upon the Sun Shifting down into the hay Needle gone, no damage done Feeling sick, can't sleep a lick, and over it A kindred soul with no shoe soles Returned my smile yesterday Can I trust the words that he proclaimed Does it really matter, anyway The kids say a man drained the wishing well He was low on change, so down he fell Sick of the your fake concerns and wish-you-well's He bought a cheap road bike and lives in hotels Feeling strange and short changed, maybe a little insane These days, it's hard for me to paint your face With just the palette of my memory Your flowers and grace seem to wilt away In the dark corners of my mind's eye I know with just the taste of your lips My hands would stop their shaking I know with just the touch of your skin My brain would stop it's breaking Ain't it strange how the sun can make the whole night change
