I am 5323 miles from a built up memory of you Watching a rose colored sunset on Osaka Bay And in a few short hours I'll be curled on the floor Thinking back on the world that I knew Grinding my nails through the carpet and spinning away Every morning I scrape up and shuffle into town The people I meet are the friendliest around In the hours of the day I could swear I'm on the top of my game And the old men gather at the bar by the pier They've been playing chess together for thirty odd years But I can already feel the tide pull me away In a few short months I'll be flying through the sky To the ruins of the family I knew I heard they took the remains And put them up on a museum display And I'm troubled by thoughts of how the empire toppled As I watch the foundation fall through Helplessly lost in the weight of the role that I played And the old men gather at the bar by the pier They've been playing chess together for thirty odd years But I can already feel the tide pull me away
