Beneath the Black Lake

The icy waters are in front of us Autumn's emotionless face stares down The cold blackened depths call out her name And the night is pierced without a sound Autumn's shadow looms over the lake It seems to be calling out her name After an endless silence, she turns at last to me Saying she'll rid me of all pain And she lifts my body and she holds me tight And she slowly begins our shared final journey Her bare feet touch the frigid waters My cries are locked tight within my soul As she wades in this freezing liquid A slight smile appears on her face But so suddenly it's taken, and she continues forwards I wonder the reason why When the waters finally touch my skin I cry out, scream into the night's embrace Death has finally caught up to me And it's so present in Autumn's face As we sink deeper and deeper The cold numbs my body In the darkened depths, we are one Free of the pain above the surface She grasps my frigid body and holds me close And I feel something strange I see memories that are not my own Autumn must be telling me her tale As we descend into the Black Lake I see a young girl disappear into the night The forest's edge calls out her name And she walked the path of no return Lit by the darkened flames And she walked all the way to the lake Before her body was consumed Autumn, she is a dead angel now The blackened spirit possesses her soul The deaths, the pain from the winter Came from a lost soul, descending from the sky Choosing Autumn to inhabit Now she sacrifices us, so she can see it die A second spirit is needed to complete the task And Autumn, she chose me As our flesh melds together, we are one Forever beneath this lake And now, now I see nothing But the blackness that surrounds us both But I still see Autumn's face Pale, staring into me "We're free" Something about Autumn has faded Now in her final moments The blackened spirit exits her soul Flying into the winter landscape above My destiny, my purpose, my search Autumn, she closes her eyes And I'm left with nothing now, but I hold to her I shall say my last goodbyes The waters are so frigid, cold, and dark Sinking into my bitter flesh Autumn's body - the last thing I did see before I shut my eyes And the Black Lake, it kills me off forever (Autumn...)
