Love is something that you can't control Love is something that you can't control It's beyond your knowledge It's beyond your experience Love is taking steps of faith Or risks It's abandoning everything you feel confident in And totally exposing yourself to a vulnerability that destroys you You can't experience love if you're not vulnerable Beyond any comfort zones Love requires a fresh canvas Love requires a willingness to challenge yourself So you have to disengage that selfishness in order to experience love And that's not easy to do It's about caring about somebody so much That their wants and needs overpower your own You can't go into love thinking about yourself You can't force somebody to love you I feel that sometimes love is more of an energy That is passed from one person to another To another To another And that when we lose that That's why we feel so distraught It's not because we've lost that person But we're just drained Gone And until we build that up again or find that in somebody else We just feel totally useless But love is completely real Yes, heartache happens Yes, things don't go as we plan sometimes But love is not something you're supposed to plan It's not a formula It's not Science It's not Math It's not something you can measure It's not something you can rehearse Love is not just romance If you want that true, raw, real love You have to be all or nothing You have to want them and care about them in every aspect And you're going to want to be that everything for them as well You don't want to just be a portion of what they need You want to be all they need I think we've been lied to about love That a person we love is supposed to complete us I think the person you love is supposed to compliment you Because you and me, we're complete as individuals And I think when you find somebody who compliments you You both walk down that road of life together And get closer to your own goals and your own dreams By supporting each other And sometimes your goals and dreams will become a unified element Because if there's no give and take The scales are going to tip But if it's this back and forth flow of energy it can withstand anything Love is seeing everything in somebody, including the flaws And still wanting to be with them And not just wanting the good times But wanting to be there for them in the bad times Don't let books or movies tell you how to love Don't let songs or celebrities tell you how to love Just do what feels natural to you And if you're willing to dive into something completely beyond yourself Then I challenge you to just open your heart, open your mind Just open your whole existence to the concept of love
