The Fallout

My volume of dreams, unstitched at the seams Shimmered and gleamed, tarnished in the streams And those I have seen, hiding between The west and the east, are sheltered the least All screams had purled, while banners unfurled The cypress had curled, and withered the world If fallout was seen, with a beautiful sheen With people enthralled by the harrowing scene A once gilded age Unveiled by rage Tears up the page Scribed by the sage No one was saved I admit defeat, was slow on my feet I now retreat, and give up my seat And now I exhaust, my mind that is lost Enveloped in frost, bears a biting cost The cardinal has flown, with north winds that blow Flying too low, in search of a home But I'm still here, with lack of fear My conscience is clear, from whispers I hear A new day will dawn But war rages on Their savior is gone From patience withdrawn A new day will dawn And as I thaw My path I draw With newfound awe For it's the future I saw The future I saw
