Goodnight

I'd say anything at all Just to chase away the night And though these broken metaphors could fall So neatly into rhyme I can't find anything I let my silence fill the dark Until the chords start falling slow But these morning hours resolve upon A fragile strand of notes That won't hold anything Now it all spins madly out of sight And I have never learned to see defeat So armed with my denial I will fight As though these lonesome melodies could bring relief
