White Privilege

I ain't never been brown I ain't never been black I ain't never been poor I'm from the right side of the tracks The house that I grew up in Had a lawn and a hedge All the neighbours were like me We had white privilege I didn't ask for it I didn't work for it I just accepted it White privilege I've got no holes in my teeth And my diction is O.K People listen when I speak even when I've got nothing to say I was shocked when I got the news That even though I've paid some dues Enough to sing the blues It's something I didn't choose I didn't ask for it I didn't work for it I just expected it White privilege Even though my thoughts And my heart are integrated And I believe all men And women are created equal When you first see my face Your first thought is not my race It's not mine but it's a disgrace White Privilege I've never been brown I've never been black I've never been shot And I've never shot back I don't get stopped for nothing Because it looks like I belong And even though I'm not conforming Seems I can do nothing wrong I didn't ask for it I didn't work for it I just expected it White privilege Thinking I don't have it is appealing "Justice for all" gives me a fuzzy feeling But for my gender or my race I never had to face No I never had to face a glass ceiling I didn't ask for it I didn't work for it I can't ignore i White privilege
