Ian Stewart was a British musician and the original keyboardist for the rock band The Rolling Stones. He played piano and organ for the band from 1962 until his death in 1985. Nicknamed "Stu," he was known for his bluesy and boogie-woogie style of playing, which greatly influenced the band's early sound. Despite being an important member of the group, he was not officially considered a full-time member due to a decision made by their manager. Nevertheless, Stewart's contributions to the Rolling Stones' music were significant and his keyboard skills helped define the band's early records. |
