Critical State

Crank up the house lights, illuminate my weaknesses Not time to find the exits, no time to see where stage left is. Just horribly exposed to this indifferent audience Waiting for the applause sign but only hearing silence Oh shit I forgot my lines This seems to happen all the time But I never even finished the script A series of obvious plot holes And story arcs that just seem old Just makes this all seem so derivative I'm far away, from ever understanding my own brain Cause I ignored the recall, didn't download any updates So I'm left here in this critical state And once again I rapidly depress the delete key So cut, let's start this over, lets call a re-write fix the ending Lets make sure the viewer knows this first draft was no worth defending Now staring at these blank pages again And fighting the compulsion to stab my eyes out with this pen Picture the reviews now, each one at a loss for words Cause deprecating language can only tell you so much Marred by production failures, and a focus that just cant be narrowed This lengthy list of characters just seems to give a f*ck There's gotta be a trap door in the stage somewhere around here Full blast on the back lights, I've always worked best in the shadows, A walking incoherent silhouette So wrap up with no resolution, Fuel the audience confusion And make off with the door take out the back I'm far away, from ever understanding my own brain.
