New Year

As I look forward to the year, I wonder what I’m doing here I’ve reached the time I saw the writing on the wall, I hear the voices as they called I didn’t care And now with the coming of the new year, I have hope born out of despair I’ve found the strength With the rising of a new dawn, I have shed this skin that I wore A new life to begin For why do we do what we do if life can be so cruel If not for love Some people have their dreams, others just drift on the breeze And life passes them by Each year we build another wall, higher, and harder to climb Protected in our shells People search all their lives for the reasons we are here, alive What is life The one thing, why we are really here, is to love and share Love and share, love and share Without love it’s a lonely life But some, sadly never realise
