Yeah I get up We don’t look down I used to hate my art teacher she disapproved of everything I made I couldn't help but think she didn't like my type of shade I thought I tried my best that shit didn't reflect my grade I'm thinking how these colors wrong when there's 1,000 different grays Instinctual I wanna try harder Cause everything I learned today better prepare me for tomorrow when you have grit Anything in your head is never hollow never follow Lead my own way and never once I felt sorrow The next day I realized I was cold with the pencil Was way more than a utensil It shaped my life like a stencil I'm working smarter more mental No learning gaps like my dental Things got consequential Teacher said I had no potential Man don't want to lecture I rather her see me as something lesser Reason to prove her wrong like lie detectors Smaller gestures make a bigger picture I figured if I work my hardest they wouldn't see me as just another nigga, A kid that always wanted to be heard I always felt in this life I would play a bigger part Just like I would forever give my city my heart,.
