It's just a song Some old lonesome tale of a love that's dead and gone A broken heart or new love that's made its mark But every song's about something that touched my heart Don't matter whether it's happy or sad About good love or bad Because every word holds a piece of my soul And I write them so I can share Both my happiness and despair So, yeah I'd say it's more than just a song It's just some wood With some strings and cracks in the top of a box that's worn It's played a thousand nights out on those old honky tonk floors And it's just like me cause it is always ready for more Because every scar tells a story And every dent is important Because it reminds me of all the lessons that I've learned And no, I won't trade that old thing Cause you see it was my daddy's So, yeah I'd say it's more than just some wood It's just a flag They hate it cause of what it stands for and that's sad They do everything they can to tear it in half But they can't because it's much more than a flag It stands for peace and stands for truth And it stands for us being free And so many paid the price for it to still fly God bless this country and Lord I pray That you'll open their eyes to see That it's more than just some stars and stripes flown up where their eyes can see It's all the beauty of this land It's the old red, white, and blue So yeah I'd say it's more than just a flag And yeah I'd say this is more than just some wood And yeah I'd say this is more than just a song
