Death and Rebirth

Goddess of the river, our souls unite I intend to pass facing the sky Water suffocate me, deny life Gently take me lower into the night Dripping away like an icicle When the sun comes out And freezing again in the dirt Under the moon's cold light The warmth forsaking my blood As my heart slows to a halt Finally at rest My spirit's boundaries fall Freedom into the vast blue expanse Life no longer restrains Mortality a thing of the past I am the wind's fair song Alas The scene vanishes before me The host The spiritual realm consorting At once I am swallowed whole Assimilated Their collective thought runs through my soul I am to be reborn Apparently my purpose is not yet revealed A task my prior self had lost Or perhaps my fate required The experience of death and rebirth
