Go and ask him bet he's got what I want" Sometimes we see what's right there but don't understand That miracles walk by in everyday hands Elijah don't show up in gold or light Sometimes he's just a man on a cool fall night They approached this man lookin' polished and clean Asked "Got a pipe sir?" keepin' their voices lean The man nodded said "Sure I'll come through Let me hand it myself to your teacher too" He walks up to their teacher loads up the pipe Lights it with a flick and passes it right They're watching like "Is this it? The big sign?" But they missed what was deeper right under the shine Teacher started askin' 'bout the harvest that year "Crops growing good? Full and clear?" But they tuned out too busy reviewing lines Missed the meaning in the space the lesson so fine Sometimes we see what's right there but don't understand That miracles walk by in everyday hands Elijah don't show up in gold or light Sometimes he's just a man on a cool fall night After dude left teacher looked at the crowd "Y'all just met Elijah walkin' humble and proud" They blinked all stunned voices raised up loud "Why didn't you tell us?
