Tonight, a hurricane will sweep the Southeast off its feet People in Florida will hold onto their beach umbrellas Awaiting their flight to heaven Stray cats will take shelter under cars and trees Clinging onto any solid surface they can find In the North, people will look at their phones and wince before turning them off and looking out at their bustling cities The power will go out as the hurricane rips off my roof and picks me up by my legs When I breach the clouds, I will get glimpses of a clean, glowing sky The stars will caress my skin before I begin my descent As I'm being brought to the Earth, I'll close my eyes and drift to sleep I will dream of my friends' smiles, my mother's laugh, and crickets Tonight, a hurricane will sweep the Southeast off its feet Tomorrow, I will wake up
