I left home at a young age, had mates, had friends but they were never the same I remember walking past that pet shop and seeing your little puppy face As a kid I had a dog and it was priceless And when I saw you I didn't care what the price was And there you were barely six weeks old, legs hardly strong enough to hold you You were the runt of the litter and little did I know you have a heart much bigger Little bark never heard you whimper or cry Looking up at me with them big brown eyes I'd race home to make sure you're okay You'd just be sleeping or playing a game Off in the car no air con, let the wind blow Sitting up in the front seat, head out the window I remember when it was just you and me You and me pup I miss you every day, I remember when it was just you and me You and me, that's loyalty Best friends to the end Young Staffy always misbehaving But I'm like, it's all good, you'll help me get the ladies And you did We fell in love with the same girl and let her into our world So much fun, three of us then four We got another dog, a black Labrador Kindest of souls, never fought once with each other He used to lay his little head on top of your shoulder And they could eat food off the same plate I'm proud to call you my best mates And when we had kids, their instinct was Still love, even throughout the madness You want to go for a walk? Is it dinner time?
