You are relentlessly eating it up on the shiniest platter You never share because it's yours to eat Nobody told you the platter you were eating on would fade And that the reality of growing up is far more than eating one thing on your platter All you saw was the shiniest They forgot to mention everything in between that matters the most They forgot to mention, that this platter you ate from didn't only carry joy That sometimes you'd eat from it and your heart would be shattered That falling in love changes you That loss, pain and disappointment are sometimes the only things served on the platter And so we're grown up now, how's that going ?
