The most natural starting point for our discussion of the infinite Is the nature of light The origin of all life and diversity is found in light In the case of Earth, light radiates down from the Sun Warming the Earth and nourishing its inhabitants It illuminates the valleys and hills Providing a means for vision and interaction We have light alone to acknowledge for coloring the cosmos And while all life originates from light The world in which you live is but one possibility In an eternal range of outcomes available from light Possibilities so diverse, I have yet to find one among you Whose imagination has explored the millionth part of their mysteries These alternatives often reveal themselves To those who explore the truths of the infinite Humans are born with a native portion of this light A lingering afterimage of the powers that gave them life Some people honor their light Defending and nourishing it throughout their lives Others treat it with indifference And their flame fades As you pursue the infinite With honest intent Your inner flame will flare in strength
