Flotsam and Jetsam

And when the sun has left and dreamy shadows pass you by Across the ripples´ play and all along the shoreward sky Visions flee - disturbing daylight´s golden rust Above the sea - forever echoes in the dusk But who of us had ever seen The water´s face when sorrow shrouds its sheet I find a drear old trace of long-forgotten sailor-tales Awashing images of solemn ships and distant sails In the misty haze loom faces that had no return On some haunted place their souls were left to yearn So as the skylight disappears The night has filled with heavy leaden tears Stranded flotsam and floating jetsam Are yearning for a home on the shore And so´s the one who semaphores to be found On his little piece of ground Don´t let this sinking ship get drowned again And when some mighty force sets the launch on unknown course Forever doomed to stray and to be merged with its final source The moonlight´s cloak leaves scary features on your heart A subtle joke is tearing you apart The moonrays mock your clutching hand A withered reach left patterns in the sand Stranded flotsam and floating jetsam Are yearning for a home on the shore And so´s the one who semaphores to be found On his little piece of ground Don´t let this sinking ship get drowned again
