Permanent Population

There's a permanent population that everybody knows A permanent way to greet someone from his hair down to his toes There's a permanent way to smile, and a permanent way to laugh And everybody knows they're coming back There's a permanent population that everybody sees A permanent way to see the sun coming down between the leaves There's a permanent way to love, and a permanent way to die But everybody knows it's not their time There's a permanent permutation on which we all agree A permanent way to be the man that we all want to be There's a permanent way to walk, and a permanent way to cry And nobody will notice that we've died Everybody wants to know, and everybody wants to go It's a permanent situation for our society A permanent way to preserve proper neural-chemistry A permanent way to think and a permanent way to know The problem is not everybody knows How do we choose the people who should know?
