Ask My Dad

When I was younger I looked up at you With my big green eyes And you told me the truth I never worried I never was sad Cause if I got lost I'd go ask my dad I turned fifteen and chased after the ball And every summer I dreaded the fall But I kept on chasing and falling on grass Cause that's what a man does if you ask my dad I tried to tell you about how I feel You didn't listen You said nobody will You have your religion so it's all in my head Or rather a demon on my shoulder who said All of these lies about who I am That's isn't my son if you ask my dad Dad's never been wrong in my life But after a year I stared down the knife I always listened I don't understand Where does this leave me if I can't ask my dad? Maybe someday I'll find a man And he'll sit and listen and he'll understand But if one day he wants my hand He'll never get to ask my dad
