Sunrise

Cold wind calls through hairline cracks, so I draw the shades Out of my pocket so I can see what's in store for me Growin' shady now... so I can survive My poor first impressions have taught me well But there's that sun in my sky, seeing past misery and pride Irresistibly amazing, yet fragile too When you feel worthless, I'll value you Then two ones will be one two And so the sun shines upon the moon How can you catch me off-guard? I thought I lost that nerve Burning like a thermite match you can ignite on a whim Pulling you closer now, so I can keep you safe It'll take more than a few words to turn me away I'll be the moon in your sky, holding you even when you're shy Someone who truly cares has nothing to prove When you feel worthless, I'll value you I'll be your one if you'll be mine too The sun will never be alone while there's a moon I can't stand this distance any more than you But then why give in to a fear that's still unproven When there's love to be had, and hope to be found in me I won't just abandon you However this goes, where would you lose We may be on the same damn cruise But if you jump I do too I know it's complicated - not easy by far This distance not of hands, but hours in a car But if I can just say one thing You're the star of my morning And it's so nice to see the sun again
