All Mortals Must Die

Another day, another dawn Another successful failure The morning sun can't fight the dark Though it may blind me, I'm still hurt Another war inside my heart The bombs have stopped But they'll return To rise again with masking on And pray the smile hides Where I'm burned The night is gone Yet I'm still here What purpose does this show? Project my voice towards the crowd Though now I wish I fell quiet My matter's waste, what matters now Is the blessing of silence They call me light, they come around Not knowing I am a siren If I for one should travel down, who would wonder where I went? The past I leave disgraces me The future taunts me endlessly I'd live in now But what's to see but all my tears? How do I mend what never healed? The clock reminds me I'm not real To love, to lose, to disappear But who am I? I lost the magic I once knew To reach is to abandon roots I have no home to return to I'd sell my soul to heal you Why does my mind play tricks on me When all I ask is harmony? Abandon hope, pick misery At least it's company And all I ask is why that all mortals must die?
