In The Dark

There's less colors than there used to be And less time there is ahead of me Can't help thinking that the bad I've done Is paying off in pain that I receive There's less flowers in the field of dreams There's less passion now inside of me Why should I try if I have to tie Myself to misery? Everybody is preoccupied With living their own life Depending on my light So why am I in the dark? Why am I in the dark? How can I see How to be better than I used to be? Can a person change? Or do we just stay the same? There's less stars above than nights before But more bottles from the liquor store If I drown in whisky brown Maybe then I could be at peace There's less hope inside than I once had Dropping the optimist from seasons past How can I cheer if every year I lose myself to fear? Everyone is running their race While I'm staying in place Spotlight on my shame So why am I in the dark? Why am I in the dark? How can I see How to be better than I used to be?
