I am not divine Smoldering and filthy Slithering smithereens of hollowed, porous bodies Receding into a background beyond reach Multitudes of swine The sunshine makes us crazy Signifiers shuffling without substance, form or function Creaky, overexposed, incomplete Frivolous inarticulate Solemn sentences for the newlyweds Sacrosanct sentinels that weep For the perils that they seek Chiseled cheeks That soften in company Grapple in steadiness With a witness Scrutiny of plan and projects And the crest of another's bicep Automatic a startling proclivity for Stage fright, shoestrings, Waterfalls, ecstasy and orange groves Where slugs couldn't pick at us anymore Dastardly dismantling my folklore Through accompanying mythologies Temperature disquieting in coastal towns Beleaguered by the snow A spectacle when the band plays at the show At the annual festival When tourists flee in the fall It's later every year
