When life suddenly remembers my name Making presents I'm not sure how to take When light is asking the darkness to fade And I still wear my darkest shades Every illusion lost, every dream destroyed I stopped searching for the light To trust good fortune, I have unlearnt The bygone years have taught me Just how to survive How to survive Did I survive I survived Now I'm standing in the hallway Face the open door Infrequently functioning Shaken to the core My head commands to lift my heel And then to lift my toes But I'm unable to appear, to make that step across My eyes are staring at the line, The goodbye to the old And the welcome to the new I want to trust in what I've learnt It's time to start anew And open up to all the wonders Go grab a life A wonderful life I am alive
