Spotlight

Once upon a time our flights had just dropped in We were first in line for the wreckage and debris I left behind Those streetlamps burned bright But they weren't half as sharp as the warm sunrise Or the error of my ways in the morning light Under that Spotlight Promises take time and regret's a cold rope you just can't unwind We're all on a sinking ship We only get one ride But if my world spins right and I finally have a chance to rewind time I'll be better than I was when I was in my prime Under that Spotlight When it comes my time I'll have a loaded truck and a 4 hour drive To the short and final frame that I can't deny Before I cross state lines I'll walk across that stage for the final time And leave the magic of a life I left behind Under that Spotlight
