Stuck in traffic goin' 80 in my head All this road rage culminates to feeling blank instead I have a son at home waitin' A wife who hones the craft of home creation I still work for an hourly wage that's too significant to be turnin' the page But insignificant enough where I gotta rely on A check to check budget in a state where they try to Say they're for the people but the average rent skyrockets After a pandemic, relief checks and a gas crisis Drains my bank account insane amounts Blood stained by fangs of doubt, migraines so loud That it's deafening - a reckoning on my mental affecting me It's like I'm the wrecking ball and the building - it's perplexing me I've felt this way since I was 12 years old Stuck in a time loop - tryna heal my soul I hear you child - just talk with me Tell me all your anxieties I promise to be that one you can trust and can always come to I see you child - just walk with me You don't gotta talk - just let be Breathe in slowly - try to see You're struggling - you deserve peace I'm just tryna be who I needed as a kid so I live vicariously Through my child - I've ran so many miles Just to come full circle to this moment - it's really wild How I've been endowed with this gift - I just listen To the shouts and then spin 'em to my interest Then I'm just inches away from the mic Knowin' after this session if I'm lucky I'll feel alright Cuz I've been the type to sit at night and freely write about the gripes I've had in my life - tryna get it right My pen is gripped as tight as a pipe wrench can get When my defenses slip I get pensive quick Then I'm on my own again Feeling so alone again I just wanna soak it in By reciting broken hymns My mind relies on open ends I don't wanna close it yet I'm feeling like my only friend Emotionally co-dependent, don't expose it though I can't It's a rope descended from the holy pearly gates of Heaven If I decide to rise to the sky I'll ascend with a bittersweet tear in my eye I hear you child - just talk with me Tell me all your anxieties I promise to be that one you can trust and can always come to I see you child - just walk with me You don't gotta talk - just let be Breathe in slowly - try to see You're struggling - you deserve peace
