Watered down fears

Caught in the moment - Time slowed for an instant as I rise Feeling momentum - Yet powerless to halt the fateful ride Flying unaided - A passenger just surfing on the wind Bone cracking impact - Tumbling, tumbling, then just lying still My watered-down fears flushed out of sight Anxiety is gone without a fight The voice of pain is hushed right through the night My senses tell me one thing but the truth won't let me fall; won't let me cry Prostrate and broken - Twitching fingers, toes and feeling numb Winded and bleeding - Crying out for help that may yet come Slowly I get up - Testing wounded limbs for function In others' hands now - Shock will blind my reason from now on My watered-down fears flushed out of sight Surrendered to my fate.
