Growing up I knew this Little brown girl  Stare into her eyes you could see the whole world She use to throw paint splatters all over her homework Had an eye for fashion making different color clothes work She was a gift from heavens, a little angel who was magnificent Blessed with curls that never stopped twirling Little freckles across her face that made her so adorable Don't get it twisted she could be trouble Use to pull clothes out the drawers Leaving messes on the floors Use to stress her mom by adding extra chores It was nothing though To watch her creativity it always amazed me She was a cheeky little thing Made sense for a nickname Use to joke that she could take over the fashion game As I sit thinking about the old days One thing I wish I would of said is Little brown girl please never change Please never change Little brown girl Please never change Little brown girl Please never change Never change I saw this little brown girl grow up She found a new passion In dance Every time she twirled her heart leapt You could see the innocence in her eyes Who would ever want to put that fire out Well one day a teacher tried to dash her dreams She told the little brown girl She would never make it  Because ballerinas aren't black And neither are they muscular  If you ain't pale skin you are considered beautiful Even though you're filled with talent You'll never win So while I was in college  A little seed of negativity was planted in her spirit I think she even started to believe it Little brown girl  Please listen to me You're beautiful in color Your natural hair is a blessing  Don't let anyone tell you differently  You're were made perfectly And when you're faced with adversity Ivana please never change for them Ivana please, please never change Ivana please, please never change Ivana please, please never change Please never change, never change
