Buddy We were together on the mountain top Doves flying out Night sky all around Singing voices in the air Birds diving in delight We were dancing in the moonlight on the peak And then I thought it would be nice To live on the mountain by your side Picking berries with the herd Sweets are for the wanderer Paint a couple pictures of the sight Laughing as we’re going down the aisle And then I might use the grove for my home Briars for the rings for your hands The doves are in the kitchen The sunset’s in the field Might go up and see that cheer up there I thought it would be nice To live on the mountain by your side Love you in the sun-warmed lake Forget my dues to the saints Asking for the mice to be our guide They’re dancing as we’re going down the aisle
