Fossils

This is a reminder of buried debris My sordid past Deemed unworthy They were deadly reptiles Never to be seen again They don't know me They can't see me They know nothing I choose to disassociate The cold-blooded Lurk in the dark and strike from the shadows After years grinding apart Forging a dream to fill my heart Betrayed and dismissed For my intent My self-sabotage My teachers My friends My loved ones separate Forever Now left with spoiled hands To build a temple from their fossils You crawl into your pit of shame Where there is no escape from fires of your fate The end result is beautiful You thought to subvert You did your worst Reptiles do not discern but through their fossils I watch them burn
