Stick Together

You ever seen walking trouble, it ain’t hard to see. Couldn’t comprehend the problem; “Hell” it was me. Momma tried to tell me, I just ignored her then. Help me pay my attorney fees, I couldn’t afford em then. In and out of trouble; in and out of jail; Commonsense was not so common far as she could tell. Would have preferred a cold beverage at a tailgate. Instead of sharing Ramon Noodles with a cellmate. Foolish and naïve; thought that I knew everythang. Momma looking at her son heart full of pain. Been in trouble with the law since was sixteen. But now I walk the straight and narrow, keep my nose clean. Staying focused on my mission cause I’m dedicated. Cause I don’t want to see you youngsters’ get incarcerated. We ain’t the ones they giving scholarships to Yale for. Cause we the ones they building brand new jails for. Poverty ain’t a lifestyle; better yet mindset. Want to improve your circumstances but ain’t changed your mind yet. See it’s your attitude and your gratitude. That determines if you fly at high altitudes. Stinking, thinking got us sinking so we don’t evolve. But problem solved if we attack it at the root cause. Like Dr. King, have dream and see it’s possible. Cause if we ever come together we unstoppable. Imagine a world where we could help each other to succeed. Empower people to help themselves and we all succeed. See we can break each other down or we can build each other. But hard to love one another if we kill each other. That’s why we need some real men to be some real fathers. And why we need some real ladies to raise some real daughters. You could really be somebody, put your mind to it. You could really go somewhere you put your grind to it. The man in the mirror, who I got to keep it real with. I got my own issues; just shit I got to deal with. But love has got to start with me, the roots of the family tree. May not see eye to eye, but we agree to disagree. Even though we fuss and fight, we careful how we treat each other. Granny momma used to tell us baby you gone need each other. Loving one another, you discover that’s a family skill. So we got to keep it real, respecting how each other feel. Never disrespect each other, shielding and protect each other. So we can’t neglect each other, lend a hand and help each other. Always gone be complications, some type of situations. Families grow stronger through the trials and the tribulations. Man we got to empathize, learn how to compromise. Wanna make it right, get off yo ass and go apologize. Every family got dysfunction, even though we try to hide it. So we got to stick together, NEVER be a house divided.
