How can I love you, you were How can I love you, you How can I love you, you were never there Oh How can I love you, you were How can I love you, you How can I love you, you were never there Oh You were never there You were never fair Every time we had a fight You would look at me and stare Wanting me to talk about it but I'd choose to save the air If I could go back, I know that I would leave you there Then you would say that you were left, I knew that you were never right Like every single night Pen and pad is how I chose to write All these words are never written out of spite But the darkness that you caused is something that I want to bring to light Yeah I've learned a lot over the years People come and go and you might send em off with tears But that's just how it is and until you face your fears You'll be crippled by the pain, and to that I'm saying cheers To every person overcoming pain inside humanity It's best to do it now then to wait and lose your sanity It's hard to love some people but if I could put it candidly The love that means the most is when you treat others like family Uh Yeah so I been choosing to love Loving life, loving God, loving people when it's tough I know that we fall hard like they pulling out the rug I choose to get back up and get the dirt off with a shrug God I know you got a plan but it's hard to understand And you get it cuz I'm only just a man So when I be acting crazy crossing lines like it's the sand Please forgive me, I'll do better, thanks to you I know I can Every step in life is one step closer to the end And some people try to play it off like death is just pretend Go about it every day like they could never be condemned That's the kind of thinking that will keep me reaching for my pen I care about the people who will never know my name Call me what you want, anything you say will sound the same You were never there, so why should I just take the blame I can love cuz I was loved first, so now I choose to do the same
