Thanks to You

My neighbors dad had to come to my house to tell me that he's always around If I ever need a helping hand or a fatherly honest opinion I'm guilty of an eventful past Rose above several shards of glass But I don't see myself as broken and if others do then here's to hoping Procrastinate for another year saying thank you to all the angels that got me here Cuz I was a mess and I will confess I wasn't very nice all the time I child full of anger Weary of danger Hating all the men in her life But thanks to you I survived My dearest friends had to make me some tea as we discussed how he cheated on me And it was nearly impossible for me not to fear it was all my fault I'm growing up, I'm looking back And honestly it's not that bad cuz I was taught through careful action how to show my love and satisfaction But I procrastinate for another year saying thank you to all the angels that got me here Cuz I was a mess and I will confess I wasn't very nice all the time A girl who was hurting She was burden trying to get through with a smile But thanks to you she survived I survived And I'll be your angel next time
