The Battlefield

As I look back over those early days I did have something of an inner tension On the one hand my mother taught me that I should Feel a sense of somebody-ness On the other hand I had to go out and face a system Which stared me in the face everyday saying you are less than You are not equal to So this was a real tension within Welcome to the Battlefield The place where God sparks dreams in the dreamers And the enemy gives schemes to the schemers Our spirit has to fight with humanity The tormented fight for their sanity The conscious tug of war for morality The hometown of self esteem Birth place of the ego The factory that makes the masks we wear for other people Is it love or carnal craving we call lust Wants become musts and sceptics justify their lack of trust It's the place where fiery darts get shot And we caught in this warzone of our thinking realize it not In a dark room sitting in a chair with a blank stare Getting ambushed the whole time you not even aware Its the place of seeds of hopelessness and seeds of hope Dope in your bloodstream, a slippery slope to help you cope Prescription meds, got you walking round like the living dead But don't provide the healing for the sick in the head Tryna hide the all pressure inside put up a front But wont confront the real issue cause you protecting your pride Brick by brick you building up a wall in our mind If not address its gonna become a stronghold over time Shackles in the prison of my mind tryna arrest me Can anybody help me find a way to get set free From the weight and the sin that would so easily beset me Don't want to regret the fleshy desires tryna best me Imagination is messy and heart is getting heavy Cause my spirit is ready to live like Jesus is my bestie But seems like my in flesh there's something too weak to let me So I speak to let my soul leak from my cheeks, Dizzy Gilespie This is the inner turmoil of so many that we need to rethink the meaning of soul winning It is never easy for one to accept the role of symbolism Without going through constant moments of self examination And I must confess that there are moments when I begin to wonder Whether I am adequate or whether I am able to face all of the challenges And even the responsibilities of this particular position Your mind is the battlefield But you have missed the wind for the breeze And you have missed the trees for the leaves If you can't identify the place where the real battle is raging You can be emancipated and still live on a plantation If you destroy the fruit without addressing the root Then you gone keep getting a harvest without knowing how it started But God gave a route for real change to come about And He can heal you but he does it from the inside out Though you walk in the flesh don't let it be your concentration Instead, it's in your head by casting down imaginations And every single solitary thought that keeps rising Against what God said you must stop em and chastise em If it's true, honest, and lovely , think on these things If it's not a good report, or upright, don't think on these things And over time, more of your thoughts begin to align With God's and you are changing with a renewed mind As you're cleaning out your thoughts with scripture Continue to feed on what the bible say about you plant it in you like seed Hear it , believe it, speak it, meditate what you read Cause once the son has made you free, you will be free indeed The same God that payed the price to make you right Is also the lover of your soul, Jesus Christ A wise man says as he thinketh in his heart so he So we might might want to rethink the meaning of soul winning So this is maybe the greatest victory that we have won Turning away from the external changes that have come about I think the greatest thing that has taken place Is the internal change in the psyche
