I wasted a lot of time Trying to talk about it I played my cards all wrong I left my crutch far behind Learned to walk without it My legs never felt so strong You wasted the quiet times With grueling conversations Now the wheels of the train won't stop You mixed your doubts in with mine Now your life's narration Hints the other shoe's bound to drop Wasted can't see far in front of me Finding my way to the floor Wasting the ropes that drop down to me I feel the sudden urge to climb I wasted what I was given Cuz once I held It started to hold me back Off the beaten path I was driven And once I lost it The line was nothin' but slack You wasted situations Ignored neon signs That would've lead you back to the track You tested out the foundation And you just couldn't rest Until you found a crack Running away from the sun And I've got a little piece of mind Keeping the light off the one Thing in this world, I can call mine I wasted my second chances Cuz I've always heard that you should Get things right the first time But all your sideways glances To that road behind us Made me really want to change my mind You wasted a part of me Can't put my finger on it But I can feel the empty gap The next part's too dark to see Behind a thousand curtains Countless layers left to unwrap
