Lockdown

I woke up this morning Another stupid Saturday, what's new? I reached for the phone And powered on the glow My retinas burned from blinding light, what's new? The president finally said It's time to shut down the government today But what does that even mean? I hear some rumbling outside I look out of the window and I see Hold on, let me reiterate my disbelief There's a fucking tank outside Rolling down the fucking street, no! My friend across The street, he steps outside to see What all the noise is all about On the loudspeaker They say "This is government lockdown!" I swear you won't believe what happens next He gives the finger Then a cop pulls out his gun And shoots him in the fucking head I never thought in my life I'd see with my own eyes A friend, or, well, just anyone, really Shot and killed I quickly shut the blinds I curl up and I cry My girlfriend comes out running And asks "What the hell was that sound?" I just can't answer She sees my tears and wraps her arm around me I say I think we're gonna die What the f*ck is going on out there? Why are there tanks? Why are they shooting civilians? I'm so fucking scared I'll never leave the house again It's chaos out there How long will this pandemic be going on?
