Bumblebee

I wish I were a bumblebee I'd spend my time among the trees Then wander through a garden patch So simply satisfied by that Wouldn't worry 'bout the sun Whether our heavenly race is run I'd just gather honey on my own Fly to the buzzing nest that's home And with each sunrise 'till my end I'll do it all over again I wouldn't have a penny's thought To give to you 'bout love or God I'd just buzz about in idle bliss Not hung up on life's little twists I wish I were a bumblebee today For if I were to be such a bumblebee I'd surely be the queen of all the trees The ambassador to the rose I'd handle things with such repose Wouldn't sting for misery Could fly up off broken feet I'd understand all nature's laws Just enough to love without a thought Oh Lord make me yellow and black To hum away on the honey's track I wish I were a bumblebee today
