Half way through the year And it's all become clear, all I've done Is half-bake ideas Seems time goes by In the blink of an eye When you're basing your life on your fears And one day you'll wake up and realise The best days of your life were ten years ago You'll look at your life with your kids and your wife and think "Is this all I have to show?" But the things that will last are the things in your past When you were coming into your own Memories are all we get And time's the only tool that we need Not got much time But what I've got it's mine And it's mine to do as I please No shame or guilt If it's your time you've killed By allowing yourself just to breathe And one day you'll wake up and realise The best days of your life were ten years ago You'll lie in bed and you'll wish you were dead Call in sick to work but you'll still go And on the drive there and then sat in your chair You'll be glad that you let yourself grow Memories are all we get And time's the only tool that we need Nothing's the same and it won't be again, so Why hold onto the past?
