Upon The Tree

You only came to take a rest Cause you were angry and depressed And you needed to make sense Of what your life could mean And then you met me on the tree They kicked me out the house I was filled with pain and doubt There was only one way out But then you kissed me While we sat upon the tree "I lost myself in song They always said this would be wrong But I never was that strong" Is what you said to me While we sat upon the tree I saw you every day When we were hiding away You said you'd always stay But you lied to me While we sat upon the tree They found you in a club You escaped but they wouldn't give up They stopped the chase, and they drew you up So they all could see They put your poster on the tree. You destroyed what I had in my mind. It collapsed from the inside I thought that you were kind I thought of thee While I cried upon the tree Unlike me, they never lost hope They caught you cause you couldn't cope They took you into the forest with rope And they danced with glee While they put you upon the tree I found you the next day I thought you were just hiding away You promised you would stay The man that loved me Died upon the tree
