Placed carefully in darkness Surrounded by the chilling soil The Earth has yet to provide warmth Such a cold and lonely place I longed for so much more Awaiting for those drops of rain To quench my thirst for success Needing a chance for me to grow I can't wait for the day my petals reach out We were planted with careful intentions With the hope for us to bloom Our potential is determined Before we even blossom Expanding my roots Allowing my stem to reach for its future Inching towards the sky as days go by My future is forming The newly formed bud ready to sprout I let mother nature use her power to make me beautiful Just like she has to my friends beside me I want I hope I need to grow into the best I can be All around me They begin to bloom Their petals stretching out to the sun Beautiful shades of red and purple engulfed the land But I remained the same A closed off bud with no signs of growing What could have gone wrong? Why was I stunted? It pained me to see the others show off their new colors With butterflies and bees all feeding them with attention It's everything I ever wanted Maybe it was a lack of rain or sun Or the soil didn't provide enough support Or mother nature was too tired Or I wasn't strong enough to succeed But it just couldn't be that simple I was planted for a reason Why did I not live up to it?
