To the squirrels in my attic What are you up to all day and night Are you alone or with family Is it safer up there than outside in the wind When you're there are you home To the rodents above me Was it you who broke in through the screen When the sweet peanut butter was out on the desk Or was it a friend Either way, I'm not mad, just amused And I know that it's not out of spite Maybe it's bravery or maybe it's desperation So I'm sorry for all of the times I made you afraid If it's this house or the road That's okay To my friends in the ceiling and walls Thank you for letting me know That I'm not alone
