Barn Owl

Let me reach inside your chest and rip out your lungs Wrap them inside a bag and carry around your songs Let me reach inside your mind and flip through your thoughts If some of them make me laugh I'll let out a breath of your air into my mouth and taste The beautiful lies you were too ashamed to waste Too ashamed to waste If every grain of sand in the universal hourglass Was a planet and you spent a lifetime on each Would you then"find yourself"? The lowly where I reside The most raw and rich reality Flutters by me in one instant And in the next pinned to a tree I wish my thoughts were as neatly arranged As the books that are on your shelf That I'd come down from the horse And off of the fence All the ideas and hearts will align Until the soul seeks recompense The barn owl appeared to me in a dream And gave me the great gift of fear It's ok to not know where to go As long as you leave home My eyes roll back to view my unconscious mind To my surprise it's not me they find
