Close your eyes It’s been a hot night The pavement steams with no release, the radio breaking the peace If I hear the morning birds before I sleep, crickets chirp and thoughts flow on It’s going to be a stressful sleep Our garden is a haven for all kinds of things My legs are full of bites and scars, a kind of canvas of the past Existential energy exists inside this house, so let’s sit around and light some sage, contemplate and talk it out Nothing comes from something Somethings always sure I’ve been shooting blanks Metaphor for sure You want to be happy? Well that takes work You want to be someone? Well you already are I feel my body as it moves around the world I’ve been putting on the weight and just hoping it’ll come right off I’m an educated girl how come I’m not doing any better?
