Here Below

California is burning again Guess it's safe to say That one way or another We're facing the end Of our selfish, rough, and wicked ways Ocean waters are rising again Higher every day And the brashest among us No longer pretend There's a way we come out of this okay But as I look into the setting sun I recall everything must go And in time all of this will come undone Here below Foreign armies are fighting again For freedom faith and land In this country of plenty There's plenty of pain Though we do tend to die at our own hands God, it feels like division these days Venom, rancor and blame It's so easy to look at Another one's ways And imagine we are not the same But as I look into the setting sun I recall there's much I do not know And I can't find any hate for anyone Here below There are times I fear we're moving Down a one way track There are times I fear we're losing Something we can't get back Can we find peace behind the setting sun Ere it burns everything we know? Are we blind to the fate we're running from Here below?
