City Slickers

Don't need to be told- what I already know City slickers, we're just looking for a place to go I feel the wind- it breathes through my clothes It eats at my hands, it freezes my bones Do you really think, we could be okay? What would we do, when it goes sideways? What could we do, so it stays the same? Well doing nothing is just making a change But honey I'm a sinner And I can be mean We didn't have food for dinner I guess we'll just sleep City slickers We don't have to eat I'm an adult but I'll carry around my sheets I'm the book- you left on the wall You read one story, you think you know them all? Put me down- like a coaster on the stand You'll never read it but I get it, I understand Never in a rush I don't have any plans Silence is doing the best I can I see old friends We keep it brief Their words in passing And sighs of relief Do you really think, we could be okay? What will we do, when it comes our way? When our homes are gone and we need to eat We would live scared, dying in the street I don't know, where we'll be I won't live right unless you could help me It's been a hard night, and it's getting worse Any minute now it could all burst
