Do Better

We’ve come along way but still have a ways to go With every story a part of me wants to know Were we setup to fail from the start Or have we lost our way along this road Not interested in what this could have been It’s our turn to turn the page the best we can I’m not just talking about four years of change We’ve got to look inside and rearrange I think we’ve had enough comfort Whether we like it or not the facts are facts So no more careless intention To keep avoiding the empathy we lack Haven’t we heard that history repeats itself Unless we learn from it and do something else Are we willing to admit that we are young We’ve got a lot to learn And in this privilege I acknowledge that It’s my place to take a risk, speak up on it It’s taken long enough to get to where we are My heart breaks to know these scars It’s time to look in the mirror Does everything that we preach show proof in the act Or are we blurring our vision Keeping quiet for now assuming it won’t crash Listen to truth I know we can do better Get up and move How do you want to be remembered Stand up in truth I know we can do better So get up and move How do we want to be remembered
