Share a Sunset

For weeks and weeks we sat under the tree We laughed and we laid beneath the leaves We wouldn't let the summer slip away We'd savor our youth every single day As the sun set over the facing hill We would watch together we would feel the chill The lost sunlight it left you cold So I gave you my jacket it lit marigold I can't even begin to describe the way you looked that night I knew this would be the last time I looked into your eyes We went back to school in the early fall We made our separate friends and we had it all I always had that doubt in the back of my mind If I was really happy like in the summertime So I took a walk out past the tree I imagined us laughing underneath the leaves I sat myself down atop the hill I was warm as anything but I felt the chill I know that people grow apart but this feels kind of strange I am still young I know that much but I know you feel the same Yeah I hope one day we can share a sunset on that lonely hill I'm sitting here, I'm waiting for you, bleeding red until
